OTTO is a new musical instrument for beat-slicing, the technique that allows to create complex and variegated rhythm sections by using just one rhythmic audio sample, cutting it into little pieces and rearranging them in time.

Ean Golden over at DJ Tech Tools has got a nice overview of the new features of Rane's Serato SL3. The long wait for this update is finally over. Sikosis and myself went and saw a demo of a beta version of 3 and were quite impressed. Read the full review over at DJ Tech Tools
Peter Kim has a great in-depth article over at Create Digital Music on the new Teenage Engineering OP-1 Controller + Synth. A concept/prototype synth that will be doing a small 100 unit run to beta testers. Very nice modern design that you don't see with much hardware these days. They usually take the gimmick route. Check out the full article over at CDM.
Ean Golden over at DJ Tech Tools has a great article for those DIY's amongst us that would like to build a Lemur like touch interface for cheap. It's a nice little set up and project, however at the moment, the software suggested does not work with OS X natively.
The guys over at Wire to the Ear have an article on how to better secure your studio, I don't agree with a few of the points (have a knife around?) but generally a good check list of things to go through.
The guys over at iTouch Midi have released a full fledged controller for DJ Software. There is a review of it over at DJ Tech Tools.
Peter Kirn over at Create Digital Music has an article about a new Linux based laptop that comes pre-loaded with a bunch of music based apps. Indamixx Laptop is the first pre-configured music netbook, running linux for USD$499. Not too shabby for those that don't want to spend heaps on their road machine.
The guys over at mac music have an article mentioning a new product that would allow you to plug XLR microphones directly into your computer via a new inline USB device that includes a pre-amp.
More cool and crazy toys/gadgets to come out of Japan. This time its a turntable speaker. DJ Speaker is able to connect to any audio source such as iPods or laptops. Featuring a single speaker that is loud and do not need any power source when it is playing.
As the Propellerhead Product Specialist, James Bernard is constantly travelling the globe to spread the Propellerhead message. He will be sharing his tips and tricks in the land of audio production hardware and software. Will be a great resource for both new and old producers alike.
The guys over at beatportal have an article and video of Ritchie Hawtin talking about his DJ Setup. It's nice to see a turntablist demo a completely digital setup.
