Beatport and Paul Van Dyk have teamed up to run this competition to remix the track 'Far Away' from his 2007 artist album 'In between'. The prizes are pretty sweet with a pacemaker and various versions of Ableton Live available. You can get the basics of the remix parts for free or for USD$3.99 you can get the premium pack which includes the original mix.
The guys over at Ableton have just released the Orchestral Instrument Collection bringing the symphony sound to Live. It consists of four sampled instrument collections that make up an orchestra including strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion. All were sampled at different velocities and articulations to make up a massive 24GB of samples ready for use.
Beatport, Beatsource, Beatportal and Tuneskeeper have joined forces to give away a 160gb Toughdrive every day for the next month. All you have to do is buy a track in WAV format from the websites above to be entered into the draw for that day. By the looks of the terms and conditions it is open to people outside of the USA as well.

MasterBeat is a new digital download store. A slow interface, poor catalogue and a hard to read font size make it frustrating to use but they have made it so you can bookmark your navigation which puts it a point above the rest in that respect. Also it is still 'beta' so keep an eye out.
