In the last few years Syke has been at the leading forefront of the Australian trance and progressive scene, and he is now recognized and acclaimed as one of the finest trance and progressive artists to stem from Brisbane.
He has gained admiration by both the clubbing and DJ communities for his passion and inspirational sets that he delivers every week, which can incorporate anything from progressive house / trance to uplifting tech trance.
Syke shares this passion each and every time he steps up to perform, and he can be seen enjoying himself behind the decks as much as the people do who come to witness his talents. For those who do make the weekly pilgrim, they immerse themselves in Syke's excitement and enthusiasm as he delivers inspiring and memorable sets of smooth flowing mixes and effects.
Much of Sykeís appreciation for trance and progressive has come from the countless hours of watching and listening to his peers that have inspired him over the years, with each performance fuelling his ambition to become just as successful as them. He was privileged enough to work at Central Station Records, a leading independant record store, where over a 2 year period he was able to increase and diversify his knowledge and appreciation for music.
It should be recognised that Sykeís unmistakeable style and unquestionable talent, have provided him with the privilege of sharing the centre stage with a variety of notable national and international artists at some of QLDís most exclusive clubs and events. He has received highly acclaimed respect and exceptional praise from those that he has played with for his ability to warm up a crowd with his distinctive style.
Not only is it the respect and admiration of other DJís that Syke has secured and enjoyed, but a mention must be made of the continued support and respect from those who venture out to see him each week, as it those who enjoy his sets as being responsible for the success that is Syke.
This appreciation was finally recognised when Syke placed in the 2006 ITM DJ Poll, with voters ranking him within the Top 10 Djs in QLD, and again in 2007 narrowly missing out on placing in the Top 50, but coming a close 52nd.
So after accomplishing so much in such short period of time, what is next for this talented DJ?
Syke will continue to keep playing and pushing the boundaries of the music that he enjoys so much through his weekly Friday night residency at one of Australiaís most exclusive and successful clubs, The Family (http://www.thefamily.com.au), and also through his monthly residency slot with DanceNode Radio (http://www.dancenode.com), an internet radio show that is streamed across the world. Plans to expand his distinctive style and sound to the rest of Australia are also high on his agenda, as well as the completion of a number of productions that he and fellow Family resident, Tydi, have been in collaborating on. But Syke's ultimate goal for 2008 it is to finally break the elusive Top 50 Dj Poll, and to conintue creating and delivering memorable sets on the way.
