It's nice when I get a release come across my desk and opening it to see its one of my favorite producers Dennis Sheperd. I was expecting something great and I wasn't disappointed. His latest release "Run Away" out on Euphonic reenforces why I like his sound.
The release ships with the title track and two remixes from Alucard and Store 'N' Forward . I've had this release for a few weeks now and I've been hammering it whenever I can. I've played two of the three remixes on the show and would have played the final remix this week if I was able to get it to fit into the set, but I couldn't.
The original mix is a progressive monster that is dripping with chunky bass and the melody is very catchy. A few well placed notes and effects tie it all in nicely. As soon as I got this track I wanted to spin it so I was glad I got it before episode 094 of DanceNode Radio.
Alucard is first on the remix duties where he stays on the progressive side. Enhancing the original melody by adding a more housey layer to the mix. This gives it just that little bit extra that you'd look for in a remix without overdoing it. The groovy bass line that I've been seeing in a few of Alcuard's remixes lately is evident in this too. I played this remix on episode 96 of DanceNode Radio so you can see how it sounds in a mix there.
Store N Forward brings us the second remix stepping it up a notch to deliver a great trance version of Run Away. The melody can still be heard in this remix but has been changed slightly to suit the faster composition. It has this kind of space age sound to it that fits well. The breakdown makes me feel like I'm zooming through space looking for something, what I'm not so sure. I heard this remix dropped in one of the biggest clubs in my city and the place went off.
It's a nice change to see a release that I can't pick a favorite track from. The progressive and trance versions are great. Gareth Emery dropped the original mix at Gods Kitchen earlier this month and it was well received. You should grab a copy of the whole release. I'm not sure if this is available on vinyl but I'll be keeping my eye out. Run Away by Dennis Sheperd is out now on Euphonic.
Digitalchild loves his dance music. If he's not talking about it, he's spinning it and if he's not spinning it, he's listening to it. He is also the guy that makes the light go on and off.
