M-Audio have launched an interesting new concept, a comic book called Overdub . It is a comic book style guide to studio production that you can read in several forms both on and offline. Focusing on both the setup and use of a production studio the series aims to go through all the different aspects of setting up and using your environment from speakers, to outboard equipment and recording setups.
Thinking about setting up a project studio but don’t know where to start? Want to learn valuable techniques for recording and producing music? M-Audio’s new publication Overdub takes you through the process of building your studio—from choosing the right gear to fine-tuning your current system. Available online or through your local retailer, Overdub covers the all the basics plus advanced tips and tricks.
The first issue is available now and is titled "Volume One: A Guide to Studio Monitors" that covers topics including selecting the right monitors, monitor placement, room acoustics, acoustical treatment and testing your setup. You can read it online in a flash reader or download a PDF, they also provide downloads for test tones which is a great little addition. It's great to see a company like m-audio putting a lighter side into such a complex topic. I for one will be eagerly reading this comic book.
Digitalchild loves his dance music. If he's not talking about it, he's spinning it and if he's not spinning it, he's listening to it. He is also the guy that makes the light go on and off.
