Elsa Hill - Lost

10th September, 2008

It's been quite a while since we've heard anything from Elsa Hill . She has been hard at work in the studio and her latest release 'Lost' out on Enhanced Recordings is evidence of this. Previously we have seen Elsa Hill team up with Leon Bolier to release 'No Need to Come Back' and 'Close Your Eyes' with Robert Nickson . This time round we'll be seeing not only her vocal talents on display but also her production skills. The release ships with the title track and three remixes from Temple One and two from Ilya Mayluev .

The original mix is a true vocal trancer with solid production behind it. It kicks off nice and fast and doesn't mess around, very DJ friendly although I'd think we'd be seeing this mix in compilations and radio shows more than clubs. The track has a nice melody that compliments the vocals.

First remix comes courtesy of Temple One out of the UK putting his trance twist in the mix. He's given the track a more stock trance feel removing some of the emphasis on the vocals and tying all the track neatly into this package.

Ilya Mayluev is the final remixer bringing two remixes to the party including a nice progressive mix and an extended mix. The two mixes are a bit slower than the original but keep the emphasis on the vocals and also manages to keep a lot of the atmosphere in the mix. I wasn't really sure I liked these mixes the first time I heard them but they've grown on me and I'm really liking them now.

For her return to trance land Elsa Hill has delivered a lovely first look at her skills as both a vocalist and producer. Support has been far and wide including Ferry Corsten, Lange, Menno de Jong and Mike Shiver. This time round the original mix is getting my vote with Ilya Mayluev's renditions coming in a close second. 'Lost' is out on Enhanced Recordings soon so if you want a nice trance release ready for the dance floor look no further.

When I first got this release I was intrigued by the concept of a mix CD that was also completely remixed by the DJ's. Elements 03 is the third installment from Baroque Records using this idea with The Flash Brothers at the helm this time around.
