The second release on Danny Graham's Tokio Recordings by Chris Cargo with vocals from Marcie serving up 'Have to Have You.' Chris's progressive sound has been making its way around clubland for the last couple of years and continues on its way with this progressive infused goodness. On top of the original the release includes a dub and remixes from Daley Padley & Fribbs , James Searles , Hypno and Rob Mooney.
The track has a nice floaty synth feel to it that had me grooving at my desk at work earlier today. The vocals have a sense of urgency about them almost like a child that must have that toy you won't buy them. I found I liked the dub of the track more as I feel the vocals seemed slightly out of place in parts. The vocal stabs work well, but the full vocal just isn't sticking for me.
Daley Padley has teamed up with his buddy Fribbs to deliver some peak time tech house/techno. Giving it a healthy taste of tribal beats together with a punchy bassline.
Continuing on the tech route James Searles takes that track to the minimal side. The remix builds nicely dropping into the break down and then skips back into those groovy beats. I could see Android Cartel dropping this track as a matter of fact I'm going to let them know about it, if they haven't already.
Hypno aka Jake Jephcott of Poland continues on his rise. Following on from his recent 'Got Bread E.P' success to deliver this laid back dub. The deep bass lines and groovy melody works well and has me bopping my head as I write this. This is the kind of track I'd use for a soundtrack to a driving sequence or something equally as cruisey.
Rob Mooney is on final remix duties delivering a great intro mix to get those sets started. It's labeled as progressive house but I'd say its closer to tech house with a dash of minimal.
This release has covered a few bases shipping with progressive house, tech, minimal and a few dubs. I'm not so much a tech or minimal guy so I can't say too much about those remixes but of the genre's I do spin regularly I'm giving my vote to the dub followed by the original and Hypno's remix. I'll give you the samples so that you can get a taste of all the remixes and for those tech and minimal fans among you let us know what you think. Its available at all good stores.
Digitalchild loves his dance music. If he's not talking about it, he's spinning it and if he's not spinning it, he's listening to it. He is also the guy that makes the light go on and off.
