Curvve Recordings continues their run of great releases with D-Fuse and Hiratzka teaming up to bring us 'Breathe In' from their debut album 'Skyline Lounge.' The release ships with the album version and 2 remixes from Fine Taste and Neil Kolo. The album version takes the ambient route while the remixes take on a progressive feel.
The album version has an extended intro that is rightly suited to an album release, it's slow paced and reminiscent of something you'd hear in a movie score. It's got a groovy beat with some great sweeping synths and pads that reminds me of the walking scene in Reservoir Dogs. It's not a mix you could drop in a club, but you could definitely use it in a chill out or ambient set very nicely.
The Fine Taste remix gives it that dash of club feel that transforms the track from a stroll into a run. I like the simple aspects of the remix and the quality Curvve mastering shines through on this. The vocals give off a housey sound that work well in this arrangement. I'll be dropping the Fine Taste remix in the radio show this week so look out for it.
The Neil Kolo remix steps it up with the house sound. It is almost on the tech side of things however the progressive nature can't be mistaken. The effects on the vocals work well that gives the impression of more than one vocalist. It's a bit slower than the Fine Taste mix but would work nicely in a afternoon set.
If you're looking for a progressive infused track that sits nicely in the middle of a set I'd suggest picking up a copy of this release. The added bonus is you'd get a great chill out version that you could work into a long transition set or even to score a movie. 'D-Fuse and Hiratzka - Breathe In' is out soon on Curvve recordings and available at all good download stores.
Digitalchild loves his dance music. If he's not talking about it, he's spinning it and if he's not spinning it, he's listening to it. He is also the guy that makes the light go on and off.
