DanceNode Hits Miami

25th March, 2008

Written by: SJ Regan ( sjregan).

As you may have noticed DanceNode has been pretty quiet on the news front. We spend so much of our time in front of the computer we decided it was time for a holiday, so we jumped a plane and headed to Colorado for some snowboarding.

Conveniently timed to occur just before the annual Miami Winter Music Conference. After a relaxing break in the snow we have since landed in Miami and have been checking out the sites and sounds as things begin to warm up. Simply put there is a tonne of available resources to find out what is going on at WMC so I am just going to highlight a few of the events we will be attending.

Last night we span briefly at Audiofiles, at an event presented by The Vanishing Point and Amplified Radio at Club Ora. Deon (Kaenow) did a magnificent job getting together a very talented group of artists for a night of great music.

Mike Saint-Jules was laying down some tasty tracks as a warm-up when we arrived. Chris Allen then got the dance floor moving with a great selection of new tracks. Noel Sanger's set was universally applauded by the crowd and crew alike while Elevation and Mike Shiver displayed their talent. Marc Damon's set was unfortunately timed but was easily my favourite of the night, very keen to see him play again soon.

Overall everyone was very friendly, it was a great opportunity to relax, listen to some great tunes and catch up before the week gets into overdrive.

Tonight we are looking forward to Shawn Mitiska and Noel Sanger at the Gem. After Noel's set last night and Shawn's reputation this is looking to be a lot of fun.

Wednesday night is the Gareth Emery Podcast Party Miami Edition at the Metropolis Downtown featuring Gareth Emery and Andy Moor. Jon O'Bir, Retrobyte, Noel Sanger, Topher Jones, Adam Sheridan, Basic Perspective will also be playing to name a few as well as John O'Callaghan headlining the offical after party.

Thursday night brings us the AVA Party at the White Room with Dissident Recordings. Andy Moor, Gareth Emery, Alex Gold, Noel Sanger, Kenneth Thomas, Chris Allen and a whole bunch of great acts will be spinnin'.

On Saturday the Armada party kicks into gear with Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Blake Jarrell, Jennifer Rene and Menno de Jong.

This is by no means a complete gig list (who has time for that!) or a full itenerary or wrap-up of the week, but merely some tips for what I think will be worth checking out. There are plenty of great parties and so much going on so be sure to make the most of it, and most importantly of all, party safe.

Drum n Bass is a style of music that has always got me tapping my feet and bopping my head and this track is no different. This release written and produced by the previously unheard of RJ Productions made its rounds on Nihal and Bobby Friction's Radio1 show in the second half of 2007.
