Endforest - By the Sea

15th March, 2008

Written by: SJ Regan ( sjregan).

By The Sea, the new track from Endforest (Peter Safranyos), is a solid progressive trance track from Neuroscience Deep with merit, but not one that will speak to everyone.

The Original Shoreline Mix has a nice deep kick introduction and uses atmospheric sweeps to slowly introduce new elements and build the track towards the breakdown. The sound has a magical element, close your eyes and you could easily find yourself in a fairy tale. Endforest has juxtaposed a series of dark and grinding samples with the floating melody that helps keeps the track earthed and not too light and fluffy.

The Shifted Reality Remix has a more housey vibe that may appeal to some, but without the darker samples in the original it becomes too empty and left me a little dissatisfied.

On the other hand the Emphased Reality version offers a new take that works really well for me. The faster pace, the deeper elements and the dark bass combine for an engaging sound, and one that I will be sure to spin in the future. It did however leave me wondering how much faster I could pitch it before it became to obvious.

Endforest - By The Sea will be available on Neuroscience Deep on April 1st.
