Curvve recordings latest release continues their trend of bringing high quality progressive trance/house music to the fans. E-Unit - 'Nowhere Else on Earth' delivers a delicious progressive release that is sure to get you moving. This is a new alias from a well known producer but I'm not going to tell you who. I'm going to get you to leave your guesses in the comments below. The release comes with five tracks including the original mix, original dub, a radio edit and two remixes from Bart Van Wissen.
The original mix has a punchy kick with a funky bassline that I found I couldn't help but bop along to. The house like vocals dominate the track but compliment the underlying melodies through good use of the old reverb. You can hear an awesome 80's sound with the pads that fits the sound just perfectly. I could find myself playing this track at a summer festival as the mix has a happy vibe to it.
I like that there is a dub included in the release so those who don't like vocals in their sets are able to still support this great track. I would like to see more producers release instrumental versions of their vocal tracks, when appropriate of course. It opens up the possibilities for the djs and remixers to experiment more with the track and its not very hard to create a dub/instrumental of a track, just mute the vocal and bounce.
Bart Van Wissen has done well in keeping the punchy sound while slowing it down ever so slightly giving it a really progressive sound. The original melody is integrated into this sonar like sound that you'd hear on a submarine or something similiar. He puts a heavy reverb on the vocals that gives the track a really wide sound to enhance those new effects he's added to the mix. The dub sets out to highlight the effects and give focus to the funky beat. I would have liked to seen the duration of these remixes to be a little longer. At just over 6 minutes it only gives you enough time to do a really short mix and i feel that you could do some pretty cool layering in the mix with an extra minute or so added.
When I first listened to this release I found that the vocals really stuck out for me and I wasn't so sure about it, but after a few plays its really grown on me but I still prefer the original dub version out of all the remixes. Curvve once again highlights that they are dedicated to releasing high quality tracks with the suberb mastering shining through. I'm not sure when this hits the stores, but when it does you should definitely grab this release.
