The Sessions Selection brought to you by Alter Ego new comers David & Carr delivers a 2 hours mix comprising of 40 tracks exclusively signed to the label. David “Wesley” Johnson and Peter Carr joined the Alter Ego team in the second half of 2007 and have been working in A&R discovering new talent, building up their existing artists and hosting the Alter Ego Radio Show.
I’ve had time over the last few weeks to really road test this release at different times of the day and while I’ve been in a few different moods. I usually get bored by the same mix quickly but this one is different, it keeps me wanting to come back and have another listen. I don’t usually like mixes that have as much music crammed in as this one but they have done a good job of delivering a set that flows well. I found there was a few mixes that were a bit quick and dirty, but when you’ve got that much music to spin it’s bound to happen.
The mix flows well starting off on the progressive side of the catalogue and builds over the next two hours into a full blown trance adventure. The track list is epic with the old and new intertwined that really highlights what Alter Ego has on offer and makes me to want more of their catalogue.
If this mix was the inspiration for a tour I’d like to see a four or even five hour set out of the boys to really build the journey up. The set fits a variety of situations from the soundtrack on your road trip to the warm up before you go out on the town. I’d recommend you grab this mix and get it on rotation, it’s available now at all good download stores.
