13th September, 2007

Apple Inc. © have just announced the release of their new professional audio software suite Logic Studio. Following on from Logic Pro 7, Logic Studio includes Logic Pro 8, Mainstage, Soundtrack Pro 2, Studio Instruments, Studio effects, WaveBurner 1.5, Compressor 3, Impulse Response Utility, Apple Loops Utility, and QuickTime 7 Pro; pretty much everything you could possibly need to create and produce audio on the Mac platform. Apple had this to say regarding their new product:
Logic Studio delivers everything a musician needs to write, record, edit, mix, and perform in the studio and on the stage. With three applications, instruments, effects, and a massive sound library, Logic Studio puts powerful music creation and production tools in one comprehensive package.

In this amazing array of tools, I'm going to highlight some of the features of the new and improved products in the suite.

Logic Pro 8

With a powerful new interface that makes producing audio with greater ease. As the center of studio suite, with great new features that make the overdub process more streamlined, great new audio editing tools and tools to work with TrueSurround software instruments.

MainStage

This is where you can bring Logic and its software instruments to the main stage for live gigs. It has a 3D interface that is designed specifically for on stage usage providing only the information you need. You can hook any of your MIDI instruments or controllers up to MainStage so that you can perform live.

Studio Instruments & Studio Effects

This software allows to you create your own sound with the help of a 25-voice drum machine and the EXS24 Sampler, Sculpture and vintage keyboards that fully model classic keyboards. With studio effects you are able to mold your sound with new toys such as the Delay Designer plug-in and work in surround with surround space designer.

With this huge array of tools, anything to do with audio is covered from producing to sound design. If for some reason you don't need all these great tools, Logic Express has also been updated, so check that out and see which one best suites you. On top of all this is Apple has reduced the price of Logic Studio down to USD$499 which puts it in competition with the likes of Ableton Live and Cubase. The more I read about Logic Studio the more excited I get about my copy arriving so I can sink my teeth in.
