The Pacemaker: Pocket DJ Tool

The PacemakerThe Pacemaker from Tonium is a portable MP3 player with a twist: it offers automated beat matching between two tracks with a dedicated cross-fader and a simplified EQ interface with a 120GB disk. The photos from the prototype show a unique form-factor with a seemingly intuitive interface.

The big selling point for me is the ability to record your mixes as a configuration file as opposed to a raw audio format. This means a full mixes will be tiny in size allowing you to record literally thousands of mixes onto the internal disk for export later. Never again will time be wasted in cars or on public transports: learn your tracks, practice your EQ'ing, vary your phrasing, test that mash-up, the possibilities are simply exciting. Why just listen to your MP3's when you can mix them? Seems like the best DJ toy yet.

The device is not yet shipping but they are taking pre-order reservations at an initial price of 520 euros. Feel free to send one my way while you're at it.
