Review: Chris Allen & Sander van Doorn @ Rum Runners London ON
8th April, 2007
Karen Brodie (
karen).
We arrived at the club around 10:30pm (having just left the pre-party a few blocks away) and the low rumble of bass can be heard as we enter the club. The stage and the lights looked amazing. Taboo Events, the promotion company hosting the night, had done an amazing job. I have never seen Rum Runners look so good. Now we had a 1/2 an hour until the club would erupt to the sounds of Chris Allen.
Chris started the night off with Freakx Brothers - Tension (Original mix), which got the crowd going nicely. Everyone was dancing and chanting and having a great time. Then about 1/2 way into his opening set, Chris dropped Matthew Dekay vs. The Proluctors - Let the Game Begin (Original mix) and the crowd went nuts! Chris also played other well known tracks like Fonzerelli - Moonlight Party, Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (Markus Schulz vs. Elevation Intro mix), Above and Beyond vs. Andy Moor - Air For Life, and many others that I unfortunately don't know the names of. The entire set flowed just right and was the perfect introduction set for a guy like Sander van Doorn.
Finally Sander arrived at the club around 10 minutes to 1. Around 1:15am Sander is ready to take the decks. Chris' final track, Wink - Higher State of Consciousness (Dirty South and TV Rock remix) leaves off perfectly for Sander to drop his opening track, Back By Any Demand, and the crowd goes crazy!
I have now seen Sander 4 times in the past 2 and a 1/2 weeks (3 times at WMC in Miami), and I have to say that this was his best set yet. He played for 2 and a 1/2 hours and the crowd loved every minute of it, and so did he! Smile from ear to ear the entire set, bouncing around, and playing with the crowd. This is definitely one of the reasons he is loved by so many. Sander played tracks such as Wamdu Project - King of my Castle (Sander van Doorn remix), Sander van Doorn - Riff (tune of the year thus far in my opinion), Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up (Richard Durand remix), and S.O. Project - Direct Dizko (Sander van Doorn remix). For his first of a double encore Sander played Tiesto - Lethal Industry (Richard Durand remix). The perfect end to an amazing night.
Last night was definitely a night full of high energy trance/tech-trance, and London loved every minute of it! Here is a link to some of the pictures I took at the event. I hope you enjoy!
